TICKS ARE OUT ALREADY so be sure to check YOURSELF & your PETS Daily!
The only real prevention of getting Lyme disease is to wear long sleeved shirts, socks over your pants legs and spray your clothing with Deet or another tick repellent. Avoid grassy areas and piled up leaves. Wear light colors so you can easily detect the tiny ticks no bigger than a poppy seed.
If you find a tick on your body, remove it by gently pulling it out with tweezers in a slow twisting motion or buy a tick removal tool and any pharmacy or store such as Walmart. SAVE the tick in an empty jar, date it for testing later, if needed. DO NOT USE alcohol, nail polish or try to burn the tick with a match. That would only make it harder to remove entire tick.
You may get a rash or bull's eye on your body. If you start having flu like symptoms, fever, aches and pains especially in the knees and joints, SEE YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY! The best recourse is to receive a 30 days of antibiotics to help prevent Lyme Disease.
If you need additional information or support about Lyme Disease, please ask your doctor, practitioner, go on-line or contact me, I will be glad to help. You are your best defense.
